The Importance of Stretching

Posted in Blog

When most people think of stretching, they think about getting on the ground and doing some static stretches, or doing yoga.  Both very important in their own rights, but today I want to talk about stretching your mind, and the importance of doing so.

One of the biggest reasons I joined Dropship Lifestyle was for the community.  I needed to be around like minded individuals to stretch my thinking about what was possible.  I grew up with a Father who worked at a factory job and a Mother who worked in healthcare.  Take a guess what my full time job of 8 years is.  And wouldn’t you know it?  My wife has the same profession as my Mom too.  This is what I was brought up around and seemed normal.  And just to be clear, there is nothing wrong with this life.  Many people, including my parents, have lived very happy lives living this lifestyle.  But for me, I always knew I wanted something different.  I didn’t want to be a product of my environment.  I wanted badly to be my own boss, and have the opportunity to be location independent.  So building a drop shipping store, and surrounding myself with other like minded entrepreneurs is exactly what I needed.

The forums on Dropship Lifestyle are one fantastic way to stretch yourself.  Talking to people on the same mission as me on a daily basis changed the way I thought.  My perception of what was possible changed quickly.  My mindset changed quickly as well.  I saw people who were working for themselves, working extremely hard, and yet were very happy.  Seeing people succeed at the business model I had chosen to pursue gave me the confidence to push hard.  I knew I could succeed as well.

Dropship Lifestyle has introduced many new people into my life as well.  A few of these people I have become very close with and talk to frequently.  My friend Felipe, who I met on the forums, and I bounce ideas off of each other daily on Skype.  Another friend, Dillon, and I talk multiple times per week.  I want to be the hardest worker I know.  And by surrounding myself with these motivated, hard working individuals, I know it will make me work 10 times harder at achieving my own goals.

Recently, Anton announced the 2015 DSL Retreat in Krabi Thailand.  You can see from the picture above the allure of going to Thailand.  Not only is the country beautiful, but the Retreat is another way to stretch me.  I’m sure the presenters that Anton will line up for the event will open my mind to new things, and show me ways to grow my business that weren’t on my radar previously.  I also hope to meet some of the many expat digital nomads living in Thailand, and stretch my mind even further as to what’s possible outside of “the norm” here in the states.

Buying the Dropship Lifestyle course to surround myself with other entrepreneurs, networking on Skype with other course members, and booking a trip to Thailand for the 2015 DSL Retreat are just some of the ways I have found to stretch myself.  There are many ways to stretch yourself, but the most important part is taking the first step.  Don’t sit back and wait for something to happen.  Find people who are doing what you want to do and surround yourself with them.  You are the average of the 5 people you hang around with the most.  So make those people count.  Take that first step towards the life you want, set goals, and Take Consistent Action.  And remember to keep stretching yourself.
